Abstract
PACTE (1997-2014) can be regarded as one of the most extensive empirical-experimental study done in the area of Translation Studies. This group of professional translator trainers embarked on investigating both the mental-cognitive process of translation as well as the corpus-bound evaluation of translation products by using and integrating recently developed translation research methods (including retrospective TAP, PROXY, etc.) in order to set empirically validated translation sub competences. This presentation sheds light on the first phase of PACTE experiment which introduces a revised model of translation competence.
