Abstract
Listening comprehension is a conscious process by which listeners construct meaning from the incoming input (O’Malley & Chamot 1989). Here, it is tried to review the factors influencing listening skills, the strategies to be taken to improve students’ listening comprehension and the effect of explicit vs. implicit teaching on developing listening comprehension skills to become successful interpreters. When students are made aware of the strategies of listening, they are more likely to engage in activities that prepare them to be effective listeners and qualified future interpreters. The findings of previous studies show that explicit teaching of listening strategies has a positive effect on developing listening comprehension skills.
