Abstract
The study, titled The Impact of Social Media on the Increase of Political Propaganda
in the Kurdistan Region – Iraq. Main Objective To analyze and evaluate the impact
of social media on the increase of political propaganda in the Kurdistan Region of
Iraq. with a number of other objectives such as To analyze the methods of using
social media platforms for political propaganda. And To identify the types and
techniques of propaganda that are spread through social media. Also To evaluate the
impact of political propaganda on public opinion and political participation. The
study used a descriptive-analytical method. The research community includes all the
students of the University of Erbil who continue their academic studies in different
colleges and stages, and the sample of the research is the individuals who
participated in the research and are representative of the majority of the research
community, so the sample of this study is the students of the College of Arts,
Medicine, Law, Language, and Engineering. In collecting the data, a survey form
was used, which consists of 100 forms and is divided into research samples.
Ultimately, a number of goals have been achieved According to the data, Instagram
is the most widely used platform among the research participants and 52% of the
participants use social media on a daily basis also Most of the participants, about
40%, are exposed to political content on social media and According to the findings,
most participants do not engage with posts that contain political content, with 40%
of the participants responding. 45% of the participants believe that exposure to
political content on social media has influenced their political opinions.
