Abstract

This thesis proposes the design of Chronoverse (A Kurdish Culture Time Capsule) a virtual reality museum in Erbil, Iraq, dedicated to preserving and presenting the cultural and historical heritage of the Kurdish people. The project addresses the lack of a modern, interactive museum in the Kurdistan Region and seeks to document and celebrate Kurdish identity through immersive technologies. By integrating virtual and augmented reality, interactive exhibits, and advanced digital tools, the museum offers an engaging, educational experience that spans ancient traditions to contemporary culture. The study explores global museum case studies, site analysis, and functional planning to inform the architectural design of a multifunctional space including exhibition zones, social activity areas, amenities, and administrative facilities. The proposed museum not only serves as a cultural landmark and educational hub but also as a catalyst for tourism and economic development. The project aims to reinforce collective memory, promote cultural awareness, and support sustainable heritage preservation through innovative design and storytelling techniques.
