This research, titled “The Role of Satellite Media Channels in Bringing Kurdish Language Dialects Closer,”
focuses on the choice of three channels (TRT Kurdî, Sahar Kurdish, Rudaw) and the reasons behind their selection.
We will not address the political stance of these channels, but they attract a large audience. The speed of these
channels, the diversity of dialects used in their programs, as well as their broadcast and presence in the field, were
factors that influenced our decision to choose them. This research has been made available in an online survey
format to all Kurdish citizens across the four major parts of Kurdistan. It has been published in the Northern
Kurdish (Kurmanji) dialect using the Latin script and in the Southern Kurdish (Sorani) dialect using the Aramaic,script. It has also been sent via email, allowing individuals to complete it and send direct feedback to the
researchers.
This research is built upon the following principles: activating the strategy of language development,
working to bring Kurdish dialects closer and fostering mutual understanding through media, standardizing dialects,
and ensuring that all Kurds are familiar with Kurdish dialects.
Additionally, it aims to promote dialects to achieve a unified language, reduce divisions, and protect
valuable, distinct, and shared terms from the risks of loss due to political, economic, and social changes occurring
in Kurdistan. It also focuses on building a stronger understanding through authentic Kurdish sources and
minimizing misunderstandings within the media, addressing external issues through media, and particularly
focusing on Kurdish social media.
