Interactive Maps as a Technology for Improving the Safeguarding of Built Heritage

In contemporary global cities, the enhancement of cultural services frequently aligns with the exploitation of supplementary service or support sectors through effective institutional planning within a cohesive and integrated system, facilitated by the collaborative contributions of diverse local sectors and international organizations. The utilization of interactive maps has recently emerged as a novel approach to enhance the processes of designing, establishing, monitoring, and maintaining various engineering projects, whether within internal collaborative systems or via global websites. This study aims to devise interactive maps that will be utilized in the management and control of information related to the planning and distribution of facilities for the architectural and urban heritage sector in the old city of Mosul. The maps will demonstrate the current level of efficiency and effectiveness of the spatial and numerical distribution of these facilities. Furthermore, the maps will identify areas of need and shortcomings in these services according to approved local and international standards. Finally, the maps will facilitate the development of details of the short-term future plan through which the appropriate requirements of the local community regarding the cultural heritage of this city can be achieved.
