COVID-19 Quarantine and Quality of Life

The study aims to investigate the impact of quality of life and related sociodemographic characteristics for Jordanian people during the quarantine period of COVID-19. A cross-sectional design was applied with a convenience sampling method using a self-report online-based questionnaire was applied to recruit 850 participants. The World Health Organization Quality of Life – BREF Survey was used for this study. Among the different quality-of-life domains, the highest mean score was for the physical domain. At the same time, the lowest mean score was for the social relationship domain. Women reported more dissatisfaction with their quality of life `than men did. However, married people were more dissatisfied with their quality of life than singles, divorced, and widowed, and people who were high school graduates were more dissatisfied with their quality of life than other group. The impacts of the COVID-19 quarantine period suggest healthcare employers and policymakers consider intervention programs provided by trained multidisciplinary staff (including psychiatrists and social and legal services) in a network to offer social support following the quarantine period. Policymakers and Healthcare employers need to take into consideration that some population groups including women, those who are married, and those with poor health status reported poorer quality of life compared to other groups. These groups need to classify psychological treatments and provide, for instance, remote services or telepsychiatry by nurses and other healthcare professionals. Further quantitative and qualitative research is needed to confirm the current study findings.
