Abstract
Abstract—Background: Granulocyte colony-stimulating factors (G-CSFs) have been shown to help prevent febrile neutropenia in certain subgroups of cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, but their role in treating febrile neutropenia is controversial. The purpose of our study was to evaluate—in a prospective multicenter randomized clinical trial—the efficacy of adding G-CSF to broad- spectrum antibiotic treatment of patients with solid tumors and high-risk febrile neutropenia. Patients and Methods: . This retrospective cohort study included seventy adult patients of both genders, aged 20 years and older, treated for cancer at Nanakali Hospital between October 2021 and January 2022. Data on filgrastim use and treatment outcomes were collected from electronic medical records. Results: Patients with 35 (50%) male and 35 (50%) female patients were assessed Based on observations from the administration series, (G-CSFs) use. Higher level acute myeloid leukemia (N=25) and lower one larynx carcinoma (N=1) were the most common malignancies, both of which were treated with (G-CSFs) as post- induction chemotherapy and filgrastim administration of timing (72hr and same day) were 30.94% and 15.28%. Conclusion: When medical oncologists and pharmacists worked together to establish criteria, our study made it possible to put into practice a system-wide pharmacist reference. Patients who got G- CSFs (Filgrastim) frequently started receiving treatment for reducing neutropenia, lessening its severity, and accelerating neutrophil recovery. Early initiation of filgrastim prophylaxis in patients at high risk of febrile neutropenia may help optimize chemotherapy delivery and improve patient outcomes. Further prospective studies are warranted to validate these findings and establish guidelines for the use of filgrastim in this patient population
