Determination of Vitamin K2, Lipoprotein (a) and N-Terminal pro Brain Natriuretic Peptide in Diabetic Hypertension with Acute Myocardial Infarction Patients in Babylon Governorate

Background: One of the most dangerous forms of heart disease is acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Diabetes mellitus (DM)is a deficiency in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both causes excessive blood sugar levels. High blood pressure or hypertension (HTN), is a widespread health problem that manifests itself in the arteries of the body. Materials and Method: 180 persons which were categorized into 3 groups: first includes 60 patients diagnosed AMI with DM,HTN, second group includes 60 patients DM,HTN only, third one is 60 subjects as control. The period study extended from April 2022 to May 2023. Determination of serum vitamin K2, lipoprotein (a) and N- terminal pro brain natriuretic peptide was done by Human ELISA kits. Results: The results of the present study shown a significant decrement (p< 0.05) in the concentration of VK2 among the studied groups. Lip(a) and NT proBNP showed a significant increase (p<0.05) between groups. Conclusion: AMI with DM,HTN patients in Babylon Governorate have low levels of VK2 in AMI and higher levels in Lip(a). These results indicate a role for these markers in risk of MI. There was a possibility that circulating level of NT proBNP to be a project of diagnostic biomarker for MI.
