Abstract

This research paper addresses the difficulties associated with integrating millimeter wave (mm-wave) frequency into 5G communication systems, particularly the attenuation of signals when mobile phones are used near the human body. The study examines the impact of a human body on the received signal at a frequency of 26GHz, both in a static and walking scenario. Measurements were conducted in an anechoic chamber and a laboratory environment to analyse these effects. The researchers also explore potential solutions, such as adjusting antenna heights and implementing multiple access points with steerable beamwidth, to mitigate attenuation. The findings demonstrate that these measures can effectively reduce attenuation. Ultimately, the study concludes that while mm-wave technology offers high data rates and low latency, careful consideration must be given to human body blockage and attenuation when deploying it in various environments.
