Abstract

An Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator, or ICD, is a battery-powered device that keeps track of your heartbeat and can deliver an electrical shock that will allow ventricular muscle fibrillation to return to a normal heartbeat. In 1980, Mirowski and co-workers invented by the ICD, which was implanted in a human. The ICD can detect irregular heart rhythms, called arrhythmias in the ventricles. ICD is a device implantable inside the body, able to perform defibrillation, depending on the heart's type, cardioversion, and pacing.
