Abstract

Almost one third of all food produced in the world currently goes to waste. Despite the fact that our world has the potential to feed all its eight billion citizens, yet 815 million are currently hungry due to lack of access to resources, lack of balance in income distribution in the world, and conflict within specific countries.Although numerous strategies have been recommended and implemented to address this problem, major challenges are still unanswered.Adequate food loss and waste (FLW) managementcould have a crucial impact in addressing this issue through “Responsible consumption and production”, “Strong fluctuations and short-term changes”, and “Waste food converting to healthy foods”at both Individual level as well as across the supply chain from manufacturing, storage and retail.
